Green Hotel
In January 2010, the Black Bear Inn obtained "Green Hotel" status from the state of Vermont. The inn is proud to have received such important recognition, because of it's commitment to reducing it's environmental impact on our beautiful state. Our environmental mission statement is as follows: The Black Bear Inn is committed to protecting the environment and the health and safety of our guests, employees, and the community in which we conduct our business. It is our policy to seek improvements throughout the Inn's business operations to lessen our impact on the local and global environment by conserving energy, water, and other natural resources; reducing waste generation; recycling and purchasing recycled products; and reducing our use of toxic materials. We are committed to pollution prevention, continued improvement in our practices, and meeting or exceeding all environmental regulatory requirements. We are committed to accomplishing these goals while maintaining our high standards of physical property appearance, cleanliness, and customer service. In our effort to achieve the above goal, we have made significant behind-the-scenes changes to the physical plant, the methods of cleaning and maintaining the property, and our purchasing. We're just getting started and are open to new products and suggestions to improve. As a guest, here are some ways you can help: Towel Reuse Program:If you hang your towel to dry, the housekeepers will leave it there. If you desire new towels, just place the used ones on the floor. Recycling: Place any bottles, cans, newspapers, or paper products in the bins that are placed in the hallways. Leaving Your Room: When leaving your room, turn down the heat or turn up the air conditioning, and turn out the lights.
