picnic   Let us prepare you a bountiful picnic basket to enjoy alongside nearby Joiner Brook - or wherever your day's explorations may take you.

There is golf at a nearby course, fishing in mountain streams, bicycling or hiking in the scenic countryside, and swimming in our own heated pool. And, down the back roads is a maze of antique shops, auctions, flea markets and winding drives.

In the winter, the finest in cross-country and downhill skiing awaits you at the Bolton Valley Ski Resort.

With an average of 275" of snow each year, you can enjoy nordic and alpine skiing. The Timberlane ski area at the Bolton Valley resort includes a quad chair, and six intermediate and expert trails all directly accessible from the Black Bear's own trail. This system gives you access to an entire 64-trail network of skiing.   You'll also enjoy the new top-to-bottom Vista Bowl Doppelmayr quad, at the main base lodge.  This will lift skiers from base area to near the summit of Vista Peak in just 9 minutes.

Cross country enthusiasts can also strap on their skis right outside the Inn, and experience the extensive, well-maintained 100-km network of trails.

Forget the usual inconveniences - lift lines are rare and snow conditions are excellent here at Vermont's only slope-sided mountain inn.
