About The Inn

Activities

The Black Bear Inn is a twenty-five room bed and breakfast-style country inn located at a 2000 foot elevation, in Vermont’s Northern Green Mountains (just 30 minutes outside of Vermont’s largest city, Burlington). Built in 1968 as a ski lodge, The Black Bear is now a year-round destination that welcomes families, couples, large groups, and pets! It’s unique mountain location offers panoramic views and a relaxing, warm atmosphere.

Superb dining has come to set the Black Bear Inn apart from other options in Northern Vermont. Over the years guests have not only remembered their stay, but the delicious, quality meals served by it’s gracious staff.

Activities

The Black Bear Inn is surrounded by 6000 acres of land that offers more activities than a typical Vermont inn! Because the Black Bear is slopeside to the Bolton Valley Ski Resort’s trails, it offers ski-in/ski-off access to Bolton Valley’s entire 64-trail network of skiing. Liftlines are rare, and discount lift tickets are always available to Black Bear guests. Cross-country skiing enthusiasts can also strap on their skis right across from the Inn, and experience the extensive, well-maintained 100-km network of trails. Come see why Bedandbreakfast.com has named the Black Bear a “Top 10 Ski Bed & Breakfast”!

In the warmer months, guests enjoy hiking and exploring the mountain by stepping out the front door, where wildlife sightings are not uncommon! The area is full of streams and swimming holes for cooling off. And guests can make their hike complete with a picnic basket to enjoy along their way. Of course the Inn has its own inground heated swimming pool (open approximately July thru Labor Day) and a six-person Hotsprings hot tub (open year-round).

Activities

Because the inn is centrally located near so many popular Vermont towns (Burlington, Waterbury, and Stowe), “off mountain” activities abound. Antiquing, shopping, wine and beer-tasting, biking, kayaking, and museums are some of the most popular nearby attractions. And of course Lake Champlain’s proximity offers adventures from cruises to lazy days at the beach!

No matter the season, guests can always be found curled up with a book or glass of wine in front of the inn’s enormous stone fireplace. Located in the front room just off the entrance, this has come to be the Inn’s most popular gathering place after a long day.
